Morocco Tour FAQ

Morocco welcomes millions of visitors each year, and the routes we use are well travelled. As in any country, keep usual awareness in crowded medinas, agree prices before services, and follow your driver’s advice on mountain roads and desert weather. We stay in contact throughout the trip and can adjust plans if a situation requires it.

Yes. Moroccan Travel runs private tours only — your vehicle, your dates, your pace. You will not be combined with other travelers unless you ask to travel with friends on the same booking.

Always. Travel dates, number of nights, hotel category, walking versus driving emphasis, camel or 4x4 in the dunes, and extra cities can all be adjusted. Send us what matters and we rewrite the days around it.

Air-conditioned vehicles matched to group size: typically a sedan or SUV for two to three guests, a minivan for families, and a 4x4 where sand tracks require it. Drivers are professional, licensed and used to Atlas and desert roads.

Yes. We regularly take families. Child seats can be arranged with advance notice. We shorten walking sections, plan more frequent stops, and can swap a long desert day for a gentler one. Tell us ages when you inquire.

Yes. Many of our guests are in their sixties and seventies. We recommend itineraries with shorter driving days (for example the 4-day Marrakech desert tour rather than the 3-day), riads with fewer stairs when possible, and optional rather than mandatory walks. Please mention mobility notes so we choose the right stays.

English is standard. French, Spanish and Arabic are commonly available. For a dedicated licensed walking guide in Fes or Marrakech medinas we book someone whose language matches yours.

Layers. Days can be hot, nights in camp can be cold, especially from November to March. Closed shoes for sand and gorges, a scarf for wind, sunscreen, a small daypack, and a torch. We provide blankets in camp. Leave hard suitcases if you can — duffels are easier on medina lanes and camp transfers.

Yes. Morocco is kind to vegetarians: vegetable tagines, couscous, salads, omelettes. Vegans, gluten-free and other needs should be mentioned when you book so riads and camps can prepare. Lunches are usually chosen on the road; we stop where the kitchen can help.

Typically 45–90 minutes into the dunes at sunset, and a shorter ride out at sunrise if you wish. It is a walking pace, not a trek. You may skip camels entirely and take a 4x4 to camp.

Yes. Say so when you book. 4x4 is better if you have back or knee concerns, travel with very young children, or simply prefer not to ride. Luggage still goes by vehicle either way.

Nights on the itinerary are included in the quoted category: standard, comfort or luxury. Marrakech and Fes are typically riads; valley stops are kasbah hotels; the Sahara is a camp (shared or private bathroom depending on category). Airport-night hotels before or after the tour are easy to add.

Send an inquiry with dates and traveler numbers. We reply with a proposed itinerary and quote. When you are happy, a 30% deposit confirms the tour; the balance is due before arrival, by bank transfer or another agreed method. You will receive a written confirmation with pickup details.

A 30% deposit is typical to confirm riads and camps in peak months. The remainder is payable before the tour starts. We will state this clearly on your quote. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Yes. Pickup and drop-off at airports, ports, and hotels or riads in the departure city are included on private tours. Share your flight number so we can track delays.

Yes. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the most comfortable. Summer is hot in the south — we start earlier and rest at midday. Winter can be cold at night in camp and snowy on high passes; we carry alternative routes if Tizi n’Tichka is restricted.

Monument tickets (Ait Ben Haddou, palaces, Volubilis, etc.) are usually paid on the spot so you only enter what you want. We can include them in a quote if you prefer an all-in figure.

Merzouga’s Erg Chebbi dunes are higher and more cinematic. Zagora is closer to Marrakech, so it fits a 2-day trip. If you have three days or more, we recommend Merzouga.
