Morocco Desert Tours

Private Sahara journeys to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi — and shorter Zagora overnights when time is tight. Camel or 4x4, standard or luxury camp, always your own vehicle.

Which desert, and how many days?

Morocco’s visitor Sahara is mostly Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes. The smaller dunes near Zagora are closer to Marrakech and fit a two-day trip. If you have three days or more, go to Merzouga.

From Marrakech the honest minimum for Erg Chebbi is three days; four is kinder. From Fes or Errachidia the dunes are closer. Ouarzazate sits on the kasbah road and skips Tizi n’Tichka on day one.

Agafay, west of Marrakech, is a stone desert for a sunset or day trip — useful, not a substitute for Erg Chebbi.

Typical building blocks

  • High Atlas and Tizi n’Tichka on Marrakech starts
  • Ait Ben Haddou, Dades Valley and Todra Gorge
  • Sunset camel trek or 4x4, night in camp, sunrise on the dunes
  • Optional second night in Merzouga if you want the desert to be more than a transfer
