Agadir coast, starting point for a two-day desert escape

2 Days Agadir Desert Tour

2 Days / 1 Night Starts Agadir Ends Agadir Private Tour Easy–Moderate

Experience the journey with local hosts

Agadir guests often want dunes without giving up a resort week. In two days we can reach desert camps toward Tata or the Zagora approaches — not Erg Chebbi, and we will say so clearly.

It is a change of air, stars, and tagine, then back to the Atlantic. Private vehicle from your Agadir hotel.

Itinerary

Day1

Agadir → Anti-Atlas → Tata or Zagora approaches

Approx. driving time: Varies 250–400 km

Leaving Agadir’s beach strip, the road climbs into a different Morocco: almond terraces, painted villages, and the folded rock of the Anti-Atlas. This is less visited than the Marrakech–Merzouga corridor, which is part of its appeal.

Depending on the itinerary we overnight around Tafraoute, Tata or along the Draa approaches, with walks among painted rocks or palm oases. The scale is intimate — family guesthouses, starry parking courts, tagines of local goat and almonds. Tomorrow the route continues toward Zagora or Ouarzazate and, on longer tours, Erg Chebbi.

Day2

Agadir → Taroudant → Tizi n’Test or highway → Marrakech

Approx. driving time: Approx. 260–300 km

Taroudant, walled and working, is a gentler medina than Marrakech and a good lunch stop. The ramparts are complete; the squares sell vegetables more than lanterns. It is a useful reminder that not every Moroccan city performs for visitors.

From here you may take the spectacular Tizi n’Test pass if weather and your comfort with mountain roads allow, or the faster highway via the plains. We will not put you on Tizi n’Test in ice or in a hurry. The highway is not a failure; it is a choice.

Arrival in Marrakech is timed for late afternoon. This day links the Atlantic holiday coast with the imperial south, and is often used at the start or end of Agadir-based private tours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this tour private?

Yes. You travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle with a professional driver. Dates, pace and stops are yours — we do not combine you with other bookings.

Can we customize this itinerary?

Yes. Nights, hotel category, camel versus 4x4, extra cities and slower driving days can all be rewritten before you book. This outline is a starting point.

Is the camel trek required?

No. The usual sunset ride into Erg Chebbi lasts about 45–90 minutes at walking pace. You may take a 4x4 to camp instead — say so when you inquire.

What should we pack for the desert nights?

Layers, closed shoes, a scarf for wind, sunscreen and a small torch. Camps provide blankets. Duffels move more kindly than hard suitcases. Nights can be cold even after hot afternoons.

How difficult is the mountain walking?

Village paths are optional and paced to the group. This is not a Toubkal summit day unless you ask for a trekking outline. Tell us about knees and we will keep the walk on gentler tracks.
