5 Days Agadir to Marrakech Tour

Agadir → Anti-Atlas → Tata or Zagora approaches

Leaving Agadir’s beach strip, the road climbs into a different Morocco: almond terraces, painted villages, and the folded rock of the Anti-Atlas. This is less visited than the Marrakech–Merzouga corridor, which is part of its appeal.

Depending on the itinerary we overnight around Tafraoute, Tata or along the Draa approaches, with walks among painted rocks or palm oases. The scale is intimate — family guesthouses, starry parking courts, tagines of local goat and almonds. Tomorrow the route continues toward Zagora or Ouarzazate and, on longer tours, Erg Chebbi.

Ouarzazate → Agdz → Draa palmeraie

Approx. driving time: Approx. 100 km

The Draa is a different desert aesthetic from Erg Chebbi: a river of palms, mud-brick villages, and kasbahs in various states of ruin and restoration. Agdz is the gateway. We spend the afternoon walking in the palmeraie and watching light move across Jebel Kissane.

Overnight in a kasbah guesthouse. This day appears on itineraries that go to Zagora or that want oasis life rather than high dunes.

Ouarzazate → Skoura → Dades → Todra → Merzouga

Approx. driving time: Approx. 370 km / 7–8 hours with stops

You start already on the desert side of the Atlas, which saves a mountain crossing. Morning in Ouarzazate can include Taourirt Kasbah or a brief look at the film studios if that amuses you. Then the palmeraie of Skoura and the kasbah-studded road into the Dades.

Todra Gorge in the afternoon, then the run across the hamada to Merzouga. Because you have not come from Marrakech the same day, you reach the dunes with more light left for the camel trek and sunset. Camp dinner and a Sahara night follow.

Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Tizi n’Tichka → Marrakech

Approx. driving time: Approx. 200 km / 5–6 hours with the ksar visit

A morning visit to Ait Ben Haddou while many groups are still on the pass. You walk the ksar, climb toward the granary, and take the view over the Ounila Valley that has sold a thousand film stills — and still works in person.

Lunch is in the village or just below the pass. Then Tizi n’Tichka: switchbacks, walnut groves as you descend, and the first red walls of Marrakech in the late afternoon. We drop you at your riad and leave the evening free. Jemaa el-Fna is optional; a quiet courtyard is equally correct after the desert.

This is the classic final act of a southbound tour. If your flight is the same night, say so — we will time the pass and skip a long ksar walk.

Marrakech medina, gardens & Jemaa el-Fna

Marrakech is best taken slowly after a desert road. This day can be guided or self-guided with your driver available for gardens and the palmeraie. Typical highlights include the Koutoubia minaret, the Bahia Palace, and a wander through the souks of Semmarine and Attarine without a shopping agenda unless you want one.

In the afternoon, Jardin Majorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, or the quieter secret gardens, offer shade and a different register of the city. Some guests prefer a hammam; others sit on a rooftop and watch storks on the ramparts.

At sunset Jemaa el-Fna comes alive — orange juice stalls, drums, steam from snail soup. We do not treat it as a show to be consumed in twenty minutes. Stay for the call to prayer from the Koutoubia, then eat where you like: a famous palace restaurant or a grilled-lamb stall. Your riad is never far.
