March to May and September to November are the months we recommend first. Days are warm without being punishing in the south, nights in camp are crisp rather than bitter, and mountain passes are usually open.
July and August are hot in Marrakech, hotter in Merzouga. We still run tours: earlier starts, longer midday rest, luxury camps with air-cooling where they exist. The High Atlas and Essaouira become more attractive. If you can only travel in summer, we will not pretend it is April — we will redesign the days.
December to February can be beautiful in the cities and sharp at night in the dunes. Pack layers. Tizi n’Tichka sometimes sees snow restrictions; we carry the alternative Tizi n’Tichka/Tizi n’Test logic in our heads, not as a surprise on the road.
Ramadan changes restaurant hours but not the landscape. We operate through it with more flexibility around meals. If you want festivals — rose harvest in the Dades, dates in the Tafilalet — tell us the year you are coming and we will aim the itinerary.
For a classic first trip, think April or October, start in Marrakech or Fes, and give the desert three or four days. See our 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga tour or the 10-day Morocco tour from Casablanca.
